My professional background in ceramics started in Japan and continues in Ireland. I love traditional arts and like to explore them from formless ideas to formed ideas. Our human connection with nature’s elements (fire-earth-metal-water-wood) brings out the universality of harmony and beauty. Wood-fired ceramics is one of my favourite activities which harness both these qualities. I make both functional traditional pottery as well as non-functional mythical sculptures. I chose the title “taephota” for my craft work because Taiwanese is my mother-tongue and it inspires me to see the strong resonance that a teapot has in both culture of Taiwan and Ireland.
